Left the free camp early and drove to Madura to refuel. Headed onto Eucla, refuelled, asked the man at the depot if the plan had showers, he said he’d let us use the caravan park showers and gave me a code to get in, very nice of him. We all came out saying how wonderful that shower was, rain water, great pressure, clean, just what we needed. Went to explore the old telegraph station and the Eyre headstone.
Through the checkpoint at Border Village, didn’t have to stop there going this way, next quarantine is at Ceduna. Stopped about 3pm and camped at Derek’s 10km peg free camp on the Great Australian Bight cliffs, wind was really strong but the camp spot was spectacular, awesome view of the water and cliffs, lots of bush to explore. Brett took some good photos of course.
Must mention Brett & Lilys pitch and catch (as instructed by Brett), it’s a “had to be there” moment but was pretty cool. Brett was standing next to the sink on the camper and threw a water bottle to Lily to put into the bin, didn’t tell her he’d thrown it. Lily happened to have a small plastic bag of rubbish in her hand and was going through the door of the camper when Brett yelled out, she spun around and held it out just as the bottle reached her and caught it in the bag, Brett yelled out “score” and threw his hands up in the air, Lily was very proud.
Ended up reading half my book, Lily fell asleep in my bed so I climbed in her swag.
